The German Clock Museum in Furtwangen

You can not imagine how many different watches exist in the world! Starting from huge ones that can be taken on an empty wall of a room, it only looks at a magnifying glass. There are even clocks that play beautiful music and have a puppet show every half an hour!

To see these wonders, one has to go to the German Clock Museum in Furtwangen (The German Clock Museum, Furtwangen). It is only half an hour's drive from B?rzaine (Freiburg im Breisgau).

The Museum's collection has been accumulated over 160 years and it has more than 8000 different timepieces of various ages and sizes from all over the world. About 1000 of them are available for closer inspection. It is a journey through time - from the sun in the sky, to the precise time ticking in our watches. The huge diversity of the pocket, wrist, wall and table is astonishing. Cuckoo clocks - masterpieces of the old masters.

The museum thus has simple clock mechanisms without a beautiful frame surrounding it. You can also try to catch the moment when a clock strikes an hour - it plays a melody and its mechanism can be observed in action.

Throughout the year both permanent and thematic exhibitions can be seen. Guide services are also available.
