Lettisches Haus

For more than 60 years the Latvian House Bērzaine in Freiburg im Breisgau, southern Germany has been the meeting place of Latvians living in Europe. The old villa, located nearby the Zähringen castle ruins, was originally built in 1894 for the German poet Emil Gött and was later converted into an active Latvian culture centre and guest house.

Freiburg in Breisgau, also called as The Capital of Black Forest is conveniently located close to the German borders with France and Switzerland, and it is also a three hours drive away from Italy, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Belgium. Therefore Bērzaine is a great place to stay for three or more days and enjoy the beautiful nature and countless cultural sights in the closest vicinity.

Latvian House Bērzaine – with the territory of more than 5 ha and a beautiful view of Freiburg in the Rhine Valley – is a gorgeous place for Latvian celebrations or relaxation with family, friends and colleagues. The guest house provides WiFi, projector and other necessary equipment for organisations and companies to organise conferences, seminars or trainings combined with sightseeing in the surroundings of Freiburg.
